USPA NEWS - Jack Lang, President of the Arab World Institute and co-founder of ALIPH, supports this call launched by the Alliance in support of Lebanon and the heritage of Beirut Here is the declaration of solidarity with Lebanon and support for the rehabilitation of damaged cultural heritage in Beirut, delivered by Jack Lang, President of the Word Arab Institute in Paris: « We would like to express our solidarity with the Lebanese people for the tragedy that has struck the city of Beirut. We are very saddened by these events and we send our condolences to Lebanon for the loss of human life and express our common concern at the extent of the material destruction."

We are at his side to continue our collective work in these difficult times. Damaged libraries, museums and historic buildings will require first aid interventions as well as longer term rehabilitation operations. Their collections must be protected and safeguarded as a priority. We are committed to doing everything in our power to contribute to the complete rehabilitation of Beirut's heritage damaged by the explosion.
