USPA NEWS - Safe childbirth promotes the well-being of the mother during the postpartum period and the building of a quality parent-child relationship. Also, while the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF) published on September 30, 2020 a maternity care protocol, in this period of high viral circulation, the Government also wished to know the opinion of the High Council of Public Health, more particularly on the issue of wearing a mask for women who give birth.
Olivier Veran, Minister fo Health, Elisabeth Moreno Secretary of State for Gender equity Men Women and Adrien Taquet Secretary of State for Family and children, join in with the CNGOF's comments to recall that birth must remain a privileged moment even in this context of an epidemic, knowing that everyone must be attentive to compliance with the safety instructions given by maternity staff .

Carrying out a search for SARS-CoV-2 (RT-PCR if it can be obtained quickly or rapid antigenic screening test in an emergency) can facilitate the knowledge of the infectious status of the woman giving birth and make it possible to adapt the measures. The ministers wish to recall, alongside the CNGOF and the HCSP, that wearing a mask for women who give birth is desirable in the presence of caregivers but that it can in no case be made compulsory. Source: Ministry of Health
